~FIRE!!!~

Hey everydoggy,
Yes, we know the title sounds kinda scary, but it was nothing serious.

Yesterday, we traveled fur around 2 hours by car to Sacramento to go see our humans' good friend/aunt who is somewhere in her 70's and lives alone in an elderly home. It's kind of sad really to see people leave their family members in elderly homes when they are old just because they think they are worthless (but that may not be the case fur some of the people there). Well, that sounds kind of harsh, but you get the idea. Just because their old doesn't mean they are good fur nothing!!! >:( . Our humans visit her because she lives alone, with no company. She is a really really nice lady, and there's no reason fur her to have to live alone, you know? (This is kind of hard to explain, sorry!) Something that really touched our hearts and made us shed tears was that when her elderly friends saw us having a good time with her, they all celebrated and congratulated her fur having her family there. Let's stop and think fur a second... Do you know why they congratulated her? Probably because they rarely see families there!!! How sad is that??? They are such nice people!! One woman there even gave our humans some homebaked fudge!! *sniff* *sniff*

Well, pretty much the whole afternoon we spent at her apartment. We also drove around town fur a while, but then came back. When we came back, we settled down and our human siblings played a boardgame while the adults were having a conversation. We just slept. All of a sudden, we heard a really weird sound and woke up. At first we thought it was a doorbell or something, but hold on, there were no doorbells!! The only other thing it could be was a fire alarm!!! So our human siblings quickly grabbed us and went outside of the apartment through the backdoor, leading to the parking lot. Our human parents told the kids to take us and go into the car and wait there. The adults helped our aunt out while we waited. Then, a door from one of the buildings opened and out came a lady that worked there with a fire extinguisher in her hand. She was coughing a lot!! Our human dad rushed to her side and asked her if anything was wrong and if she needed help, she told him she was fine, thank you. Then, another guy ran out coughing, and he was carrying a tray of towels with smoke coming out of them with some tongs. He was coughing like crazy!!! So our human dad ran into the car and got a water bottle and gave it to him. He was very thankful and drank some water. Then other people that worked there came out coughing, but not as severely. They told our human dad that the towels the guy had taken out had burned in the laundry room.

Then, we heard some sirens approaching...it was a fire engine!!! Yay! The quicky went in the building and we didn't want to be in the way or anything, so we didn't see what happened. But after a while everything was fine. Whew...what a scare!! Our humans didn't have time to take pics, however, luckily, our human sister had her handy dandy camera in her purse!! So she managed to take some shots of the scene. But she didn't want to disturb the firemen or anything, so she didn't use flash, plus, she was inside the car, so the pics are not of the best quality.

Here's a pic of us looking at the scene from the back of the car. Exciting!!

Here's another pic of the fire engine.

Here's a pic of one of the firefighters going into the building.

Here, there are some firefighters standing near the tray of burnt towels.

Hee...hee...that's Maya!!

This is a picture of the hallway where the smoke was and through which the firefighters entered.

And here's a last pic of the fire engine before it left. The quality of the picture is better I think because our human sister got off the car to take it.

And well, that's all. Thank dog nothing happened and that it was nothing too bad. Whew!

Wow! How scary. Thank doG nothing happened to you and your hoomans.

My daddy just saw a picture of the both of you and he says the both of you are doppelgangers to Toto and I. We have the same coloring and look exactly alike. Hey! We could swap places and our hoomans won't be any the wiser. Wouldn't that be exciting.
