Tags and Announcement

Hi again!!

We've had some time to catchup on some blogs and posts, and so we will now post about our 3 tags to catch up even more.

On March 5th, we were given the Whippet Challenge by Butchy & Snickers. Here it is:

Patience and her Whippets have challenged all of us!

Here is her challenge:

I'm challenging bloggers to make something, anything, and post about it. Let's see what you creative people come up with! Here are the rules:

1. Make something, anything. It doesn't have to be complicated or artsy. Make a list, take an interesting picture, make some one's day, make dinner, make a doodle, make fun of yourself, make a poem, make your bed (OK, that last one is lame).
2. Write a post about it. With pictures for extra brownie points.
3. Link to this blog and challenge six other bloggers to do the same.

We chose to post about our scrapbook. Our human sister just got into scrapbooking last summer when it was our human's first summer with us doggies. The scrapbook only has pages from when Maya arrived up to the summer of 2007, ever since school started she was busy and didn't have any time, but may one day she will catch up.

Here is the front of the scrapbook:

This is a page of Maya when she was just born and of her parents:

This one is of Maya when she was climbing some very big steps to the deck in the yard:

This one is of Kena on the day she arrived:

Another page of Kena:

Kena's first bath:

Here is a section of a page of us chasing each other at the beach:

Now we have to tag 6 other bloggers, and here they are (and if you have already been tagged fur this challenge, you don't have to do it, but you are of course free to do it if you want to!):
1.JB
2.Girasol
3.Thor
4.Hershey and Kaci
5.Deetz
6.MoMo

Don't feel pressured to do the tag if you don't have the time!!

:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:

Then, on March 14th, we were tagged by Hershey and Kaci to do the book tag!! The rules were:

1. Grab the nearest book of 123 pages or more.
2. Open it to page 123.
3. Find the first five sentences and write them down.
4. Then invite five friends to do the same.

The book we chose was Goodnight Mister Tom by Michelle Magorian. We think there is also a movie on it.

One of our human siblings read this book when they were in school in Hong Kong and they were teaching WWII. Our human sibling said it is a really good book!! So here are the first five (or maybe six... hee hee) sentences on page 123:

'I ain't allowed,' emphasized Willie. 'I don't do that sort of thing.'

Zach was astounded. He thought the whole world had heard of Fred Astaire.
'Well, there's only one way to explain tap.' He moved the case to one side, rolled back the carpet and told the others to sit by the bookcase. He then put the shoes on and laced them up.

Now we invite anyone who wants to share one of their books to go ahead and do this tag. We didn't pick anyone because we weren't sure whether others have done it or if they have any books to share or not. So feel free to share your books!

:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:

And the last tag we received (which was today) was from Asta. It was Linda's Make a Wish Meme. Here are the rules:

1. Think about what it is that you want more than anything, what your heart's desire and fondest wish is, and what it is that you would wish for if you were to see the above wishing star flame across the night sky.
2. Right click and SAVE the blank graphic above.
3. Use a graphics program of your choice and place your wish on this picture:
4. Post the Make A Wish Meme and your wishing star on your blog along with these rules.
5. Tag as many people as you like so that there can be wishing stars all across the Blogosphere and ask them to please link back to Linda so that we can see what wishes others have made and share those wishes with others.

Well, we have tons of wishes, so it's hard to pick just one, but we think this one is our top one:

Wish

And now we will tag our NOMSS furriend Ruis!

:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:

Oh!! And before we finish this post (sorry it's so long), we want to tell you guys that we found another pup on Dogster who needs financial help, just like Bruno did, remember?

Well, this pup, Smuckers, is a 9 month old Miniature Dachshund who has had a deformed spine ever since he was born. Here is the story that his human posted about him:

"Hello everyone my name is Amanda and I am the proud owner of two male mini dachshunds. However, my little guy really needs help. His name is SMuckers and he was born with a deformed spine. He is such a special little dog and he means everything to me. He has touched so many peoples lives in his short 8 months here on earth.

Smuckers needs to see a neurologist which will cost us $1,450.00 to get his MRI scans and the vet visit. We need to get him seen so that we can figure out what exactly is wrong, and if anything can be done.

I was not expecting Smuckers to be in such pain already. As soon as he reached 6.lbs his pain got much worse. I have always taken good care of him and taken him to all apointments with his vet and paid for it on my own. I am disabled and live on a small budget. My vet has told me to start him on pain medications, so that is how we are trying to manage his time for now. But even with the pain meds, he still seems to be suffering from pain. I give him water therapy, massage, and he has a heating pad that he uses to try and help ease his pain.

We are looking for ANYONE that may be willing to help us. Even if you can only donate one dollar...We appreciate EVERY CENT!

The money donated goes DIRECTLY into his vet account that I had the vet set up. The money is never in my own possession. And to confirm all of this, I will give you all the vet information, and even their website link so that you can see for yourself.

I love this little guy with all of my heart, and I consider him to not only be my therapy dog, but also my child in a way.

I know that there are organizations out there that can help us, especially since I am disabled, but if I can raise the money on my own, others who need the financial assistance of those organizations will be able to use the funds. And not only that, but I know that if surgery is an option, I will need those funds. I feel guilty enough about needed to ask for money, but using an organization twice would make me feel horrible, and most of the organizations will only give you funding one time.

Please email me directly for more information, photos, and how to donate. Even if you can not donate...Maybe some encouraging words? I am starting to lose hope We have had his account set up for a couple weeks and I am working like crazy to get the word out, but we have only gotten one donation. But we do appreciate it! And to us, prayers are just as important and meaningful as the donations, so if you can not donate, please pray for him.

I am asking as a person who loves my animals more then life itself. I cannot deal with having to have this little one put down at only 8 months because of his pain and my lack of financial ability. If you would like more information on his story, please please email me at Doxiemomma87@yahoo.com please ask anyone you know if they can help us. Thank you all."

You guys were so generous and helpful to Bruno, we know that we can help Smuckers too!
Thank you!

Breaking News

Hey everyone!

We just came back from our afternoon walkie just now, but it wasn't an ordinary walkie...

As soon as we got outside the house, we heard a loud noise coming from behind our house in the sky, and it was 3 helicopters!! So our human brother ran back inside the house and got the camera to snap some pics before they went away.
Our camera isn't of great quality, so the helicopters seem really far away, but they were actually REALLY close...

This one was white and red, and was the first one we could see (it looked closer)

This one was small and blue, we thought maybe it was the police one?? Who knows...

And then this one was really low compared to the other two, we didn't see it at first because some houses covered it...

We stood there fur a while and just watched.... or actually, our humans did just that, we just lay down on the grass and waited fur our walkie to resume...

Our humans were just staring into the sky... and fur a long time too.. they looked funny...hee hee. Well, anyways, after a long time of staring at those 3 helicopters, our humans saw that the blue one was coming our way and kept going, and it left. Not long after, a red one arrived from the left and entered the scene. At this time, weird things started happening. Our human sister saw a thing that looked like a red plane in the sky flying right next to the red and white helicopter, and at first she thought it was a missile.... silly sister... Our brothers just laughed because they knew it was just a plane, but we think our sister thought like that because she was trying to make some sense out of this situation. Well, after we say the plane/"missile", two hawks flew right above us and our humans were scared fur us, but a few seconds later, they left and there was nothing to worry about.

Our humans kept taking pics of the different helicopters...

After taking LOTS of pics, we headed back home. And just as we were about to enter the house, two more helicopters arrived. But there wasn't any point in taking the pics, it was too hard to capture the helicopters. So instead our human sister went on the computer onto The Mercury News and investigated today's news stories. One of them fit perfectly into the puzzle. And here it is:

"Police detonate dynamite found in San Jose garage

By Joe Rodriguez
Mercury News
Article Launched: 03/24/2008 04:29:22 PM PDT

San Jose police observe the scene where the bomb squad prepares to... (Richard Koci Hernandez)

San Jose police have evacuated about 25 homes in a San Jose neighborhood today after a homeowner discovered a box of dynamite in the garage.

The homeowner was cleaning the garage at his recently deceased grandfather's residence on ... when he found a box that looked like it hadn't been touched in years, according to police. Upon opening the carton he saw what appeared to be a stick of dynamite and called 911, said Capt. Vaughn Edwards, Commander of the San Jose Police Department's Southern Division.

San Jose Fire Department were the first to respond to the scene, followed by members of the Police Department bomb squad.

They evacuated the neighborhood near ... at about 11:45 a.m., according to Jane Chunn, who lives two doors down from the residence.

Police then sent a robot into the garage to retrieve the box. Inside was five to six sticks of dynamite.

Police then dug a 3-foot hole in the yard, surrounded it with another 3 feet of sandbags.

As about a dozen onlookers watched at a safe distance, a police officer yelled "Fire in the hole" several times and then detonated the explosives."

It turns out this happened at a street that was just a few minutes away from us!! Wheww... how scary... We're just glad that no one was hurt...

Well, that's our exciting story fur today!

ASPCA Posters

Hey there everyone!

We're still catching up on blogs, and we've only gotten through about 5 out of 40!! Most of them have around 5 posts... so we'll see when we finish... AND we still have to do two tags, we're sorry we're so far behind... :( But fur now, we'll try to just post about what we've done before we get even more far behind.

So... most of you probably know what the ASPCA is, but fur those of you who don't, it is the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. And usually, you can see shows of their people at work in many sad cases on Animal Planet. We just started watching their shows a while ago and got interested, so we went onto their site and looked around. Then we saw that on April 10th, it would be ASPCA day. Here's what it says on the site:

"Get Ready to Go Orange!
Join Animal Lovers Everywhere and Go Orange for Animals on April 10 for ASPCA Day!
On Thursday, April 10, cities all over the country will be going orange to celebrate the ASPCA’s victories on behalf of animals and the joy they bring to pet parents everywhere. Lend us your voice on April 10 by dressing yourself, your kids, your pet—even your school or company!—in ASPCA orange, and show the world you support the ASPCA and the pets we protect. Visit the ASPCA Day Online Community Group to give—and get—good ideas for going orange."

So we looked around fur some ways we could help spread awareness, and then we saw that there were some free flyers that we could print and post around our neighborhood. We printed out the Suburbs flyer, but there is also a City flyer available.

Here are some pics of us posting our flyers:

We felt so good after doing something fur a good cause!!
We hope you all join in to help spread the spirit of ASPCA day!

Wags and licks,
Maya and Kena

PS. Happy Easter!! Hope you all had an EGGstra special day!

In Loving Memory of Lacy Lulu Hudson

Today, right after we had finished our post, we decided to start catching up on everybody's blogs, and the first one we saw was Lacy Lulu's. We started from the first post we had missed and scrolled up from there, and then, when we got to the latest post, we broke down and even our mommy started crying. We couldn't face the fact that Lacy Lulu had crossed the Rainbow Bridge. But like we always say, when a doggy goes to doggy heaven, they are happy and they get to meet old pals, make new ones, and watch over their family and friends. So I guess that kind of lessened the pain. We made this picture fur Lacy Lulu:

Lacy Lulu Angel

Lacy Lulu was the sweetest little lady. She helped everyone when they were going through difficult times and she used her bloggie to spread awareness of the help animals need these days. She was very caring and there is no doubt that she touches everyone's hearts at least once.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Lacy Lulu's family during this hard time. Right now they needs lots of words of comfort and support since they not only have to go through Lacy Lulu's crossing the Rainbow Bridge, but they don't have water and Lacy's mommy, Claudette, has been in the hospital. We are praying really really really hard fur them!

We found this beautiful poem on http://rainbowsbridge.com/Poem.htm

"Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together.... "

Sorry we haven't been around lately...

Hey everybody!

We're REALLY sorry we haven't been blogging lately... we've missed you all and feel horrible that we haven't been able to tell you we were just busy... we're truly sorry if we worried you...

We've been missing out on so much, haven't we? We have tons of posts to read and it will take furever to catch up on everything, but we are determined...

When we received news of Bruno's crossing to the Rainbow Bridge, we were devastated and felt horrible. But we are consoled by the fact that he is bounding around happily and pain-free up above, and that he is looking down over his family and friends. We really miss him... His mommy told us that even though it was REALLY hard fur her to let him go, she knew that it was the only way he could escape the pain. She told us that Bruno gave her a look that told her it was time. We're still crying...

Bruno Angel

Right now we don't have much time to write about everything (including some tags... sorry, we'll get to those ASAP), so we'll just post some pics of our latest adventure on a hike we went to last weekend. It was really pretty there and the view was amazing.

First we went to the Milpitas Dog Park, which is located in the county park there. It had two areas: a big dog area and a small dog area. We went to the small dog area, which had big, shady trees (and the big dog area had small trees, hee hee!).

If you looked past the big dog area, there were some hills fur hiking, and we saw some horses on the trail.

Then this cute Beagle who was in the big dog area, came over to the fence and greeted us. We think his/her name was Hollywood, we're not sure.

Then after some time playing at the dog park and doing our business, our humans decided that we should go hiking on the trail where we had seen the horses. When we first entered the trail, we saw some squirrels running around and escaping from us into their holes in the ground. Maya went crazy when she saw one, but they were too quick.

Like we said before, the view was amazing, and this was just at the beginning of the hike, it got way prettier the higher you went (but we didn't go that far because we weren't prepared with food or water, we had initially come to see only the dog park).

(Most of these pics have Maya in them because my human sis took the pics and Kena was with our human mom and brother up ahead.)

We had a great time and we were REALLY tired after the hike, which fur some reason made our humans really happy and satisfied.

You made US smile Lorenza!! Thank you so much!!
We'd like to pass this award on to: Sparky and Faya.

Next thing to post is:

New pals!!

Hershey & Kaci are 2 miniature schnauzers who live in New England. We met them on Dogster and told them about the blogging world, and then they convinced their human to start a blog fur them. Please go say hi to these two cuties!!

-----

Okay, and now, let's get into a more serious tone.

You all now about Bruno at this point, seeing as we've been posting about him several times.
Well, the deal with Bruno right now is that he has a type of cancer that invades the musles, nerves and crowds other vital organs. His mommy had another doggy before him, Lady who had the same type of cancer, and his mommy waited until she couldn't walk anymore to euthanize her, which was really hard fur her. Bruno's mommy doesn't want Bruno to go through the pain like Lacy did, but luckily, the vet gave them some aspiring, which is helping a little. Poor Bruno's mommy says she could not let Bruno go. We're glad the aspirin is working!!

Here are Bruno's latest diary entries:

WHEN I GO
February 24th 2008 3:21 pm
When I go over the rainbow bridge to join the others that are already there, Please take care of my furkitty brothers, and mommy, they will be really sad. I do want everyone to know that I love them and enjoy being everyones friends and I cant say thank you enough for the gifts and all the support you have given me and mommy. I will still stay here just have some wings. Mom says I have other furkid family up there to and they will be waiting for me there to. Don't be sad, I will be in a place where I can run and jump and play without hurting anymore and no more stuff like deseases or anything like that and I will wait there for all of you when it is your turn to come over, so really I will never be alone. I am not sure when I am gonna go but while I am I am gonna have the best time with all of you as I can, just dont forget mommy and my furbrothers they are pretty cool for being kitties.

HEY MOM TOLD ME BOUT MY SISTER I NEVER MET
February 26th 2008 5:39 pm
Mom told me that I had a sister, she is not here now but she is with the other pup pals over the rainbow bridge, she went over cuz she had the same cancer I got now so she has a page to, mom only found one picture so far but she will look for more, Bruno

Stay strong Bruno!! We're praying so much fur you!
